Grants & Awards

ISLRR award

During the conference dinner at Buena Vista Beach Club on Wednesday evening, the honorable ISLRR award will be granted to a person that has significantly contributed to the field of low vision rehabilitation and/or research. Nominations are currently discussed!

ISLRR travel grants

Quite a number of travel grants will be awarded to persons who proved to have interesting work to share at Vision 2017, as assessed by the ISLRR committee, and for whom it would not have been possible to visit the conference without the travel grant. The award ceremony is planned on Wednesday afternoon at the end of the plenary session!

Vision 2017 Next Generation Award

Based on abstract scores as assessed by reviewers from the Vision 2017 science committee, a number of young oral presenters will be nominated for the Vision 2017 Next Generation Award which is sponsored by the conference. Their presentations will be assessed by a small committee of reviewers. Nominees will be personally asked to prepare a 3 minute – 5 slide max oral presentation of their work, just in case: to be presented during the closing ceremony on Thursday (in addition to their own session), however, only three will be asked to actually present. These persons will include the winner who will be awarded 500 EUR, and two runners up.

Dutch Society of Low Vision Rehabilitation (VRS) poster prizes

Two poster prizes will be awarded to the person with the best poster of a practice example and another person with the best poster presenting a scientific study in the field of low vision. Poster pitches and lay out will be assessed by a small committee of reviewers. Nominees will be personally informed about their nominations and will be asked to send a pdf of their posters before the conference. Prizes will have a considerable amount and are sponsored by the “VRS”! The award ceremony is scheduled on Thursday during the closing ceremony and final plenary session.

LEVRETA Award for best presentation

Once again LEVRETA is sponsoring the award for the best oral presentation. At ESLRR events, the LEVRETA award celebrates the best oral presentations of which the contents together with the presentation as such, are the most inspiring, effective and professional performance. It is recommended, however, that the speakers keep in mind  that many listeners have English as their second language. For this occasion the LEVRETA award, inspired on the Eye of Horus and made of fused glass, has especially been designed by Edith Benedictus, a renowned Dutch glass artist. Candidates for the LEVRETA Award must be affiliated to a European institute.

Nominations for the Award can be sent to the Board members of Levreta: Mario Broggini (mbroggin@tin.it) or Aart Kooijman (aartkooijman@gmail.com). The winners will be chosen by the Board members of LEVRETA. The award ceremony is scheduled on Thursday during the closing ceremony and final plenary session.
